    Digital Communication Node

The Digital Communication Node is a device that enables all connected sensors, originally designed for wired operation, to communicate wirelessly via LoRaWAN. The Digital Node is compatible with all geotechnical sensors that use the Modbus RTU communication protocol. Once the sensors are connected to this wireless device and the gateways have been correctly installed on site, the system is ready to receive, store and transmit data. The Digital Node and all connected sensors can be freely configured remotely through the Move Cloud Platform. It is ideal for implementing any monitoring system and meeting all project requirements.

The Digital Node and all connected sensors can be freely configured remotely through the Move Cloud Platform. It is ideal for implementing any monitoring system and meeting all project requirements.

    Key parameters:

    • Wireless device with an integrated long-life battery
    • Enables LoRaWAN wireless communication for any wired sensor
    • Supports 1 bus and up to 30 sensors
    • Sampling frequency can be adjusted remotely
    • Supports all Modbus RS485 sensors
    • Extremely simple installation with versatile mounting options

Main applications of the Digital Communication Node

    Environmental monitoring

    Environmental monitoring

Analyse ground displacement, including settlement and lateral movement, as well as the stress-strain condition of the soil using in-place inclinometer probes and vibrating-wire sensors. External atmospheric conditions such as wind direction and speed, rainfall, humidity and temperature can also be monitored.

    Hydrogeological monitoring with Move

    Hydrogeological monitoring

Using sensors such as piezometers, it is possible to monitor groundwater and surface-water levels and correlate them with ground settlement values.

    Structural monitoring

    Structural monitoring

The use of crack meters makes it possible to monitor potentially hazardous crack patterns. The stress-strain condition of structural elements can also be monitored using strain gauges and by correlating the data with temperature.

    Geotechnical monitoring

    Geotechnical monitoring

By installing load and pressure cells in the ground, it is possible to monitor both the pressures exerted by the soil and the distribution of loads on foundations, as well as their deformation.

    Compatible sensors

Some of the geotechnical sensors and probes with a Modbus interface that are compatible with the Digital Communication Node include:

    • In-place inclinometer
    • Inclinometer chain
    • Crack meter
    • Load cell
    • Moisture sensor
    • Tiltmeter
    • Settlement gauge
    • Strain gauge
    • Piezometer

Easy installation of the Move wireless monitoring system

Installing a complete wireless sensor system on site is quick and easy: simply secure each device to the structure to be monitored using at least two screws and power the LoRaWAN gateway. The entire system can be configured remotely before, during or after installation using a laptop or tablet. Once the system has been installed and configured, the Move wireless monitoring system will begin taking measurements, allowing remote monitoring to start immediately.

How the Move wireless monitoring system works

The wireless sensor system automatically transmits measurement data via LoRaWAN to the on-site gateway, which then sends the received data via 4G or LTE to the online servers. The Move Cloud Platform is a cloud-based web tool that allows users to access, view and export measurement data and configure the settings of the entire sensor system. The Move Cloud Platform can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere in the world and from any device. One of its main advantages is that it provides remote access to measurement data and enables the remote configuration of all installed sensors, saving both time and labour. Measurement data can also be analysed using the processing algorithms included in the service. Complex calculations, correlations and analyses can be performed automatically and effortlessly. Measurement data can be exported in CSV format at the touch of a button. Alerts can also be configured for multiple recipients, who will receive threshold-exceedance notifications by email.

    • Easily install the entire system on the structure without any wiring.
    • Configure all wireless sensors quickly and remotely.
    • View measurement data in real time, wherever you are and from any device, 24 hours a day.
    • Process the collected data using the implemented algorithms.
    • Continuously monitor the operating status and signal quality of the system remotely.
    • Customise alarm notifications and receive threshold-exceedance alerts by email.
    • Optionally integrate the data into your own platform through an MQTT bridge, FTP or API calls.
