Wireless 3D scanner with AI and onboard processing
The Artec Leo is a completely autonomous 3D scanner designed to revolutionise three-dimensional capture without relying on cables or external workstations. Thanks to its integrated NVIDIA Jetson TX2 processor, HD touchscreen, interchangeable battery and Wi-Fi connectivity, users can scan with complete freedom, view results in real time and transfer data directly to the cloud.
Its advanced artificial intelligence captures only the necessary data, reducing post-processing and optimising the workflow. Global Geosystems is an official Artec 3D distributor in Iberia, providing local technical support and warranty coverage in Spain and Portugal.

HD mode and visual improvements
Leo’s HD mode doubles the effective resolution and improves the definition of edges, curves and complex surfaces, reducing noise and optimising the quality of the resulting model.
Real-time visual control
During scanning, the device displays a colour map indicating the working distance—red when the operator is too close and blue when too far away—helping the user maintain the optimal scanning distance. It also includes a surface quality indicator that highlights areas already captured correctly and zones requiring additional coverage.
Resume scanning
If scanning is paused, Leo allows the user to continue from the same point and add new information to the existing project without losing data.
Greater efficiency and reduced post-processing
Its patented artificial intelligence algorithms allow Leo to capture only the essential points, reducing redundant data and lightening the processing load during subsequent stages.
Applications and use cases
Artec Leo performs exceptionally well in a wide range of scenarios thanks to its versatility:
- Reverse engineering: fast and accurate capture of mechanical parts, moulds and industrial components. See our article on using Artec scanners for reverse engineering at
topotienda.com - Inspection and quality control: complex surfaces, curved parts and components with intricate geometries.
- Cultural heritage: reconstruction of sculptures, reliefs, architectural details and works of art.
- Architectural and interior surveys: enclosed spaces, furniture and interior design.
- Forensics: field capture of evidence with realistic texture and geometry.
- Tunnels, galleries and cavities: difficult-to-access areas where a portable, cable-free scanner provides a major advantage.
- Industrial asset documentation: pipes, equipment and large machinery in factories and industrial plants.
Frequently asked questions
Does the scanner require frequent calibration?
We recommend periodic calibration, especially if the equipment is exposed to impacts, extreme temperature changes or intensive use.
What distance should be maintained during scanning?
The device provides visual guidance through colour indicators to help maintain the optimal distance for sharp, low-noise captures.
Can the Artec Leo be used in bright outdoor lighting?
Yes. Its VCSEL projection is invisible and performs well in bright conditions. However, soft shade can improve texture capture results.
How can the data be exported?
Artec Studio allows data to be exported in common formats such as OBJ, STL and PLY, and combined with photogrammetry for advanced texturing.
Can it scan large objects or outdoor environments?
Yes, although for very large objects it can be combined with long-range or complementary scanners. Leo is primarily designed for medium-sized objects and indoor environments.
