Leica DISTO™ D2 (D2-2): the world’s best-selling laser distance meter, now with 150 m range and integrated IMU

The new Leica DISTO™ D2, also marketed as the DISTO D2-2 to differentiate it from the previous version, is the new generation of Leica Geosystems’ best-selling laser distance meter. This update extends the range up to 150 metres, 50% more than the previous model, while maintaining the characteristic accuracy of ±1.5 mm.

For the first time in the D2 range, it incorporates an integrated IMU that recognises the orientation and movement of the device, enabling advanced functions such as Smart Room for automatic floor plan creation through the DISTO Plan app. It is Leica’s most complete option for indoor measurements when a green laser is not essential.

Designed and manufactured in Switzerland by Leica Geosystems, with the reliability standards that have made the DISTO™ range a benchmark for architects, installers, surveyors, interior designers, maintenance technicians and bespoke furniture professionals.

Multifunctional endpiece with automatic detection

The fold-out endpiece adapts to any measurement situation. Folded out once, it forms a perfect right angle for measuring from edges. Folded out twice, it becomes a stable, slim extension for narrow corners, grooves and hard-to-reach areas. The device automatically detects the position and applies the necessary compensations to prevent measurement errors.

Data transfer without pairing

NFC technology allows measurements to be sent to a smartphone simply by bringing the device close to it, with no prior pairing process. In addition, integrated Bluetooth offers an alternative option for continuous workflows with the DISTO Plan app, where you can document measurements, generate scaled plans and export in CAD-compatible formats (DWG, DXF).

Smart Room: effortless floor plan creation

Thanks to the integrated IMU, the DISTO D2 detects the direction of each wall as you measure. The DISTO Plan app reconstructs the room plan to scale in real time on a smartphone or tablet. The result: an accurate floor plan with automatic area and perimeter calculation, ready to export to CAD.
