Wireless Tilt Beam

Tilt Beam sensors consist of aluminium bars measuring 1, 2 or 3 metres in length, on which a wireless tiltmeter is installed. They are normally installed in series, with the end of one bar coinciding with the beginning of the next, until the required distance is covered.

    Wireless Tilt Beam

The Tilt Beam device consists of a triaxial tilt monitoring sensor installed at the centre of a tubular steel beam. This beam can be 1, 2 or 3 metres long. They are normally installed in series, with the end of one beam coinciding with the beginning of the next, until the required distance is covered. Differential movements of the structure cause the beams to rotate by different amounts, revealing differential movements or settlement in the structure being monitored.

The three-axis wireless tiltmeter sensor used to collect the data is extremely accurate and exceptionally stable. Remotely configurable variable sampling frequencies, a robust design and a battery life of up to 8 years make this wireless tiltmeter suitable for a wide range of environments and applications. The wireless tiltmeters transmit accurate readings from the site through a gateway using the LoRaWAN wireless communication protocol.

Differential movements of the structure cause the beams to rotate by different amounts, revealing differential movements or settlement in the structure being monitored. Installation is quick and simple, with no wiring required. Like all Move Solutions sensors, these are wireless devices and use the LoRaWAN communication protocol to transmit data to the gateway.

    Key parameters:

    • Tilt beam available in lengths of 1, 2 or 3 m
    • Wireless triaxial tilt sensor
    • Integrated temperature sensor
    • Extremely simple installation with versatile mounting options
    • Ultra-low noise performance
    • Ability to compensate for installation offset in the data
    • Resolution of 0.000015° (0.00027 mm/m), repeatability of ±0.0005° (±0.009 mm/m) and a range of ±90°
    • Integrated long-life battery with an approximate service life of 8 years
    • IP67 protection rating
    • The firmware can be updated remotely through the gateway, reducing costly site visits

    Main applications

    Railway monitoring

    Railway monitoring

Monitor pitch and roll angles, twist and vertical deflection with high accuracy. These measurements provide the key parameters required for the static monitoring of railway tracks.

    Bridge monitoring

    Bridge monitoring

Monitor all the static parameters of a bridge, such as pier rotations or the static deflection of its spans.

    Building monitoring

    Building monitoring

Monitor the rotation of any structure or building using the wireless tiltmeter and Tilt Beam.

    Tunnel monitoring

    Tunnel monitoring

Monitor all the static parameters of any tunnel or underground railway system. The tilt beams can be installed both horizontally and vertically.

Easy installation of the Move wireless monitoring system

Installing a complete wireless sensor system on site is quick and easy: simply secure each device to the structure to be monitored using at least two screws and power the LoRaWAN gateway. The entire system can be configured remotely before, during or after installation using a laptop or tablet. Once the system has been installed and configured, the Move wireless monitoring system will begin taking measurements, allowing remote monitoring to start immediately.

How the Move wireless monitoring system works

The wireless sensor system automatically transmits measurement data via LoRaWAN to the on-site gateway, which then sends the received data via 4G or LTE to the online servers. The Move Cloud Platform is a cloud-based web tool that allows users to access, view and export measurement data and configure the settings of the entire sensor system. The Move Cloud Platform can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere in the world and from any device. One of its main advantages is that it provides remote access to measurement data and enables the remote configuration of all installed sensors, saving both time and labour. Measurement data can also be analysed using the processing algorithms included in the service. Complex calculations, correlations and analyses can be performed automatically and effortlessly. Measurement data can be exported in CSV format at the touch of a button. Alerts can also be configured for multiple recipients, who will receive threshold-exceedance notifications by email.

    • Easily install the entire system on the structure without any wiring.
    • Configure all wireless sensors quickly and remotely.
    • View measurement data in real time, wherever you are and from any device, 24 hours a day.
    • Process the collected data using the implemented algorithms.
    • Continuously monitor the operating status and signal quality of the system remotely.
    • Customise alarm notifications and receive threshold-exceedance alerts by email.
    • Optionally integrate the data into your own platform through an MQTT bridge, FTP or API calls.
