PML
The PML from Vogel & Plötscher represents a new generation of laser-based rail cross-sectional profile measurement. It determines the cross-sectional profile and material loss in accordance with EN 13231-2:2020, with a resolution of 0.01 mm and a measurement uncertainty of less than 0.1 mm. It compares the actual profile with the nominal profile or with previous measurements, displays the result immediately on the screen and exports it in PDF format. PML: laser measurement of the rail cross-sectional profile
The PML laser rail cross-sectional profile measurement system from Vogel & Plötscher represents a new generation in rail profile inspection. It determines the cross-sectional profile and material loss in accordance with the applicable regulations and the EN 13231-2:2020 standard. Its compact design and low weight ensure ergonomic handling and easy transport between measurement points.
Results in seconds, with PDF export
Measurements with the PML are completed in a very short time. The result is displayed immediately on the screen and can be exported in PDF format, streamlining documentation and the delivery of reports directly on site.
Comparison of the actual profile, nominal profile and material loss
The PML compares the actual cross-sectional rail profile with a previously selected nominal profile. The standard configuration includes the 60E1, 60E2, 49E1 and 54E1 nominal profiles, with the option of implementing customer-specific profiles. It also allows two measurements to be compared by assigning a new measurement to an existing one, which is particularly useful for assessing the condition of the rail before and after grinding or milling. Rail material loss is calculated and displayed automatically.
Portable version or integration into rail treatment machines
In addition to the portable version, the PML measuring technology can be integrated into rail treatment machines. The intuitive software is identical in both versions, providing users with the same data acquisition and evaluation process regardless of the selected configuration.
Independent of the track gauge and fully insulated
The measuring system is insulated and operates independently of the track gauge, allowing it to be used on Iberian, standard-gauge and metre-gauge railway networks. With the VG version, the PML can also measure grooved rails, commonly used in tram networks and urban environments.
